Outage Planning Coordination Platform

I spearheaded the design and development of an Outage Planning Coordination (OPC) system for a German transmission system operator. From the start of the project, I helped build an agile project team and, beyond my role as Software Engineer, assumed responsibility for:

As the project team grew, I handed over these respective areas to dedicated project members and focused on back-end development and DevOps.

As a foundation, several existing applications were analyzed and individual requirements from specialist departments and the association of transmission system operators (ENTSO-E) were gathered.

The resulting cloud-native system based on open-source technologies brings previously separate, manual data transfers together on a single platform. It helps prevent planning errors by highlighting improbable outage combinations. By providing all stakeholders with shared planning context on a single platform, the system eliminates the majority of phone and in-person coordination, making the remaining annual in-person planning meetings highly efficient.
